Born in Washington State and raised in Southern
California by his television director father, Don
Barnhart Jr grew up on the sets of LA watching Robin
Williams and Jonathan Winters practice their craft
on Mork and Mindy. It's no wonder Don went
into stand up comedy. doing background work
to support his acting classes, Don was seen early
on on Happy Days, Mork and Mindy and The Great American
Hero.
After getting a job a comedy club in Hermosa Beach,
Don moved up to house emcee opening up for Jerry
Seinfeld, Jay Leno, Jim Carry, Garry Shandling,
Dana Carvey, and Dennis Miller to name a few.
After just a few short years, he then took his act
on the road and making the jump to full time comic
headlining at top comedy clubs like the Improv,
Punchline and Ice House.
Averaging over 200 days a year on the road doing
stand up, Don still had a first love of improvisation.
He auditioned for and was accepted to the prestigious
Second City Conservatory program in Los Angeles
and was one of the first groups to graduate.
Besides several national television commercials,
Barnhart has also starred in the television pilot
GENISIS WARS, he is currently directing a film he
wrote called CHINA DOLLS and he has a sitcom based
on his stand up act along with two reality shows
currently in development.
When he has free time, Don goes overseas to entertain
the military for the USO and just completed a COMICS
ON DUTY tour of Afghanistan and the Persian Gulf.
With appearances on MTV, NBC, A&E, CBS, several
National Television Commercials, Apollo 13, In The
Army Now, Species and many more, it's a wonder why
Don Barnhart Jr isn't a household name already...
Don just released a DVD "The DeEvolution of
Man" which features his first stand up comedy
special along with an original sketch show,
a short film he wrote/directed and starred in and
clips from the "Vault" featuring some
of Don's earlier work. Barnhart is also editing
a documentary of his Comics On Duty World Tour of
Afghanistan and the Persian Gulf and hopes to release
it soon...
